We want to let you know of a request from Viktoriya, one of our learners in Antrim who has a son in Syria. Viktoriya contributed along with her daughter Aia to the evening service recently. Abed is 25 years old and has just finished his studies in dentistry. Life is very dangerous in Latakia, west Syria, where he lives with his grandma, you may have seen the dreadful news from that region recently. Through Viktoriya, who is Ukrainian, he has a Ukrainian passport so is eligible to come to the UK under the government’s Ukrainian sponsorship scheme. This is where a UK resident hosts for 6 months minimum, with the government giving the host £350 per month as a thank you, in lieu of rent which cannot be charged. The host provides accommodation and support with settling into life here. Viktoriya will undoubtedly support him too if he comes to live locally.
