AQE & GL TESTS During November some of our church family will be sitting these
significant tests as part of the process of moving from P7 into post-primary education. Please can we assure them of our prayers over the next few Saturdays. We have been advised that work will commence on Monday 22 July on upgrading the footpath from our gates to the roundabout at Cunningham Way. There will be disruption until late 2019 while this work is carried out which will include the reduction in the number of parking spaces available during the works. Please allow for extra time for finding a suitable parking space.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING TUESDAY 26 NOVEMBER, 7:30PM : An evening to review progress on the refurbishment of the meeting house & our plans for 2020 and beyond. In relation to this, Planning Application details will be presented for congregational approval.
Our next meeting is on 20 November when our own Matt & Josephine will take us from Flanders Field to the Somme. All very welcome to join us.
SUNDAY 6:30PM @ 1ST ANTRIM Our Sunday PM theme is “living for God, following Jesus, in a world that doesn’t”. Pretty relevant! It’s based on the Bible book of Daniel, and already we’ve taken our first steps….
We were introduced to it as being a book about God, a book about Jesus and a book about living for God, following Jesus, in a world that doesn’t. Last Sunday evening we engaged with Daniel 1 : how did Daniel & friends set their sails in a world that “owned them”? They counted on God’s faithfulness, they knew who they belonged to and they took the long view. Sunday 17th Nov we encounter Daniel 2 : how can we live for God, following Jesus, in a world that doesn’t, when the future seems so uncertain? Well, there’s a God in heaven who reveals mysteries! So if you don’t usually come along on Sunday evenings, or if you haven’t been in a while, why not venture out for 6:30pm? IRISH YOUTH CONVENTION Takes place on Saturday 16 November from 3-9pm with Glen Scrivener as speaker. This promises to be a great event helping young people explore the theme of “Identity”. Early bird tickets cost £12 and are available until the end of June (£15 thereafter). If you’re interested, please speak to Jonny Alexander.
OMF PRAYER MEETING Tuesday 12 November @ 8pm in the Dixon Room. Mark Tan will be our guest speaker. Mark is from Malaysia and has been serving with OMF for more than 22 years. Mark and Christine's ministry began in the Philippines in 1996 doing Church planting with the local Filipino-Chinese and Mainland Chinese in Manila. Since returning to NI in 2009, OMF Diaspora asked us to consider reaching out to many of the Mainland Chinese Students studying here. Today in Queens every year we have more than 900 East Asians coming to study, most of whom would be students from Chi-na. Some are here only for one, three, six or eight months, only a very few are here for three years. This is a great opportunity for us to be friends with these students and wel-come them into our home and churches.
ELEVATION is on after the morning service on 10 November in the gallery room. We got off to a great start in October and would encourage everyone to stick with us. Our programme will end at 12:45, but if you need to leave at any time before that, please feel free to do so. All young people of secondary school age very welcome.
Elevation 16+ is on Sunday 27 November in Jonny Alexander’s house. REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 10 NOVEMBER: there will be an Act of Remembrance at 11am, therefore please be seated by 10.50am. A verse of the National Anthem will conclude the Act of Remembrance, before pausing for a few moments and then proceeding to worship together.
PRAYER FOR REVIVAL Saturday 9 November 8-10am, High Street PC. Come when you can and leave when you must.
