SUMMER FAIR SATURDAY 27 AUGUST, TEA ROOM & CAKE STALL Last year our Tea Room and Cake Stalls were very successful due to the generous provision of baked goods and jams from folks in the Congregation. Would you consider baking for us again or even provide wheaten bread, plain and self-raising flour? We would really value your help. Sheets will be left in the vestibules where you can add your name and what you could provide or alternatively speak to Ellen Matchett or Linda Alexander
We will be having our tea room and cake stall, brick a brac, toys, plants, books, games, good quality clothes and accessories, £1 parcels, bbq etc. If you would like to help out in any way by donating an item or helping, either on a stall or in the tea room, please speak to Rowena, Lesley, Linda Alexander or Josephine. Let’s do this together! PCI is contributing significantly to the programme of this year’s Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention, which runs from Friday 19th August to Saturday to 27th August. To mark this 80th year of the convention, the opening night is being held in Assembly Buildings, Belfast and will feature OM’s George Verver as well as PCI member Bob McAllister, who served as a missionary in the DR Congo. The convention will then relocate to its normal venue, Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church, for the remainder of the week where, on the Monday evening, Neil Kennedy, a PCI Missionary who’s been serving as a Paediatrician in Malawi, will be one of the key-note speakers. The programme also includes a number of seminars including one on Saturday 20th for Mission Committees and others contemplating or preparing to send a short-term mission team overseas. This will be hosted and led by PCI’s Mission Development Officer, Rev Dr Mark Welsh. Then, on Thursday 25th August, PCI will host a morning seminar in Assembly Buildings entitled, ‘Mission Trends Impacting the Church Today.’ This interactive seminar will be guided by PCI’s Rev David Bruce and Eddie Arthur, former Director of Wycliffe UK and now the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Global Connections. That same evening, (in addition to the main convention event), a trial satellite event will be held in Union Road PC, Magherafelt, where the keynote speaker will be Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali. For more information on all the Bangor Worldwide’s events, please visit the convention’s website (www.worldwidemission.org)
